Congratulations to Kate Magnuson for successfully defending her dissertation proposal.

Congratulations to Kate Magnuson for matching at Hennepin Healthcare Doctoral Internship in Health Service Psychology (Child Track). Hennepin Healthcare is part of a large teaching hospital, is a Level I Pediatric and Adult Trauma Center, and is a safety-net hospital located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The predoctoral internship program at Hennepin Healthcare is an APA-Accredited program and serves a very diverse patient population. Over the past five years, Hennepin Healthcare as selected 20 predoctoral interns. Among these 20 interns, 2 have been students studying to receive a PsyD, with Kate being one of them. Kate is also one of two predoctoral interns on the child track. She focuses on providing psychological services to children and adolescents with intersecting chronic and acute medical diagnoses. She is training in within three rotations including a pediatric consultation/liaison service embedded in varying inpatient medical units, a pediatric primary care service, and an outpatient service. However, Hennepin Healthcare includes an adult track as well and offers varying rotations across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Congratulations to Bethany Fernandes for successfully defending her honor’s thesis entitled, “Role of Parent Psychopathology, Parenting, and Parenting Competence Outcomes Following Multisystemic Therapy” and earning the highest distinction of Outstanding. 

Congratulations to Bethany Fernandes for starting the Ed.S. program in School Psychology at Baylor University.

Congratulations to Iliana Trevino for starting the M.A. program in Applied Behavioral Analysis at Colombia University.

2020

Congratulations to Kate Magnuson for receiving the Frances Fowler Wallace Memorial Award for Mental Health Dissertation Research! This is a grant awarded to doctoral candidates in the field of psychology to provide financial support for the candidate’s dissertation research project.

Congratulations to Dr. Ryan-Pettes for her newly awarded PCORI Engagement Award!

Congratulations to Dr. Ryan-Pettes for being named as one of Baylor University’s Beauchamp Addiction Recovery Center (BARC) Research Fellows!  

The lab welcomes new doctoral students Kylie Li and Grace Beuly!

Congratulations to Dr. Ryan-Pettes for being awarded the Loan Repayment Program from NCATS. This is her 3rd renewal.

2018

Congratulations to Dr. Ryan-Pettes for receiving the Principal Investigator Research Investment Program (PRIP) grant award from the Office of Research Advancement at Baylor University to continue her iParent studies.

Congratulations to Dr. Ryan-Pettes for being selected as a Fordham University Research Ethics Training Institute (RETI) Fellow!

Dr. Ryan-Pettes’ abstract was accepted as part of a symposium for presentation at The College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD), the premiere conference and longest standing group in the US addressing problems of drug dependence and abuse. Dr. Ryan-Pettes will present research findings related to parent’s perceptions of contingency management and their wiliness to pay for this intervention as part of treatment for their child’s substance use. 

Congratulations to Kate Magnuson! She received a travel award to the 126th annual meetings of the American Psychological Association, awarded by Baylor University.

2017

The lab welcomes new doctoral student Katherine Magnuson!

Dr. Ryan-Pettes’ abstract was accepted for an oral presentation at The College on Problems of Drug Dependence (CPDD), the premiere conference and longest standing group in the US addressing problems of drug dependence and abuse. Dr. Ryan-Pettes will present preliminary results from her MiSkills projects entitled What Teens Want: A Mixed Methods Study on the Use of Mobile Phones and Its Technology for Aftercare Treatment.
